THE ADVENTURER
Hiker and world traveler

ABOUT ANDREA:
Adventurer, outdoorswoman, traveler, animal-lover. Those are just a few words that describe me. My name is Andrea Schmuttermair, and I am passionate about taking advantage of what life has to offer. I thrive on new experiences, love to take risks, and can be found forever exploring the world.

My family is an important part of my life. They are my support system and best friends.

My Oma (grandma) is the source of my love for travel and my German heritage. I had the honor of traveling with her to Germany in 2010 to experience her homeland through her eyes.

My dog, Wesson, is my adventure buddy and partner in crime. He accompanies me on all of my outdoor adventures! He is also a certified therapy dog who loves to visit my classrooms.

My love for Germany and my German heritage is shown here as I don my "dirndl", or traditional Bavarian dress. My cousin Fred and I are getting ready to celebrate at the town "Volksfest".

Muay Thai K1 Fight 2018: What better way to get the inside experience of a Muay Thai fighter than to be one. My first Muay Thai fight was an experience unlike any other.

Wanderlust. I am a born traveler, and love nothing more than to experience a new culture. In 2005, I traveled to Egypt, and was humbled sitting on the steps of this ancient structure.

I love to try new things! When I visited Alaska in 2012, I tried ice climbing for the first time. What fun!

Officially a scuba diver! Getting my scuba certification opened me up to an entirely new underwater world, and I LOVE it!

In 2013, I checked another item off my bucket list: a backpacking trip with my German cousin Rosie. We backpacked between 6 different huts over the course of 7 days in the Austrian Alps.

In 2014, I backpacked for 28 days on the Colorado Trail, a trail that runs between Denver and Durango, Colorado. My dog Wesson and I backpacked 320 miles over the course of the trip.

Hiking the Rota Vincentina in Portugal, 80km of hiking next to the ocean on the coast of Southern Portugal.

After growing up in San Diego, nothing will replace my love for the water. The serenity, the calm. Being on the water is one of my favorite things.
